Ascend Disability Lawyers Annual Scholarship

Jason Harmon, the founder of Ascend Disability Lawyers, initially concentrated on Social Security Disability before broadening his practice to encompass Veterans’ Disability Benefits, Long-Term Disability, ERISA claims, and other employment-related issues commonly faced by individuals when they can no longer work. As a published author in the dynamic field of disability law, Jason has established himself as an authority in the subject.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jason pursued his college education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he double-majored in English and Psychology. Following college, he gained valuable experience working for a law firm as a non-attorney representative, participating in over 300 disability hearings nationwide and crafting briefs for the firm, which eventually became one of the leading SSD firms in the country.
Subsequently, Jason attended Mississippi College School of Law, where he held leadership roles in various organizations, including the Moot Court Board. During law school, he continued to advocate for disabled individuals in hearings and served as a Guardian Ad Leitum in the law school adoption clinic, assisting the court in placing children in suitable homes. He graduated from law school with honors.

Post-graduation, Jason established Ascend Disability Lawyers in New Orleans, which has since expanded with satellite offices along the Gulf Coast, serving clients nationwide. The firm, under Jason’s leadership, has assisted thousands of individuals in their fight for Social Security disability benefits, with Jason personally representing clients in numerous hearings.

We want to continue to pay it forward by offering scholarship funds to further educational opportunities for the future.
